Dressed to Sweat: Charli and Troye’s Best Outfits

It was the tour us Brits WISH we could have attended. The Sweat Tour was the joint North American tour Charli XCX and Troye Sivan embarked on in Autumn 2024. It takes place after the success of both artists' most recent albums; Charli’s ‘BRAT’ and Troye’s ‘Something to Give Each Other’. The word ‘brat’ was inescapable this summer, with Collins Dictionary naming it the word of the year. Summer ’24 will forever be remembered as the summer the world turned neon green, fittingly named ‘brat summer’ by the internet. No longer is not taking your makeup off after a night of partying seen as nasty - it’s brat! Move over clean-girl aesthetic. And surviving on a Red Bull after two all-nighters in a row? You guessed it; brat.

One of the most interesting things about the Sweat Tour, aside from the Apple dance and guest stars like Addison Rae and Lorde, were the intriguing clothes worn by the two stars. The outfits at the Sweat Tour were some of the most exciting we have seen on any pop artists as of late, thanks to Charli and Troye’s stylists, Chris Horan and Marc Forne, respectively. I will be doing a run-down of my favourite looks from Charli and Troye, so get ready to sweat!

Here, Charli wears a custom Lovett asymmetrical mini skirt paired with this ‘We love you Kate’ slogan t-shirt, an obvious nod to the t-shirt Lee McQueen wore to close his S/S 2006 collection. I can’t help but think about the similarities between Kate and Charli; both are British, both love a ciggie and both have a certain notoriety for their fondness of a certain ‘party-girl’ substance…

In fact, slogan t-shirts were everywhere at the Sweat Tour. Charli donned this Ogbff ‘Hot Person at Work’ t-shirt, the same one which Ice Spice wore for her Youtube interview with Genius. Calling yourself THE hot person at work? How bratty. She paired this with brown corduroy micro shorts from Javier Guijarro, and square sunnies from Oliver Peoples. Oh, and a veil (duh).

Perhaps the most memorable slogan t-shirts though, were worn by both Charli and Troye together. Aptly nicknamed the ‘gay son, thot daughter tour’ by social media, Charli and Troye played up to this title, wearing t-shirts with these humorous labels printed on them. Oddly, the letter ‘h’ was missing from the word ‘daughter’ on Charli’s top. Is there a reason for this spelling mishap, or was there just a dyslexic printer? Girl, so confusing.

My heart goes out to those in attendance at this tour who were neither a gay son or a thot daughter; the boyfriends, whose girlfriends probably only dragged them along with them to hold their jacket and chauffeur them home. Queen shit.

This sexy cowboy inspired look from Troye is sure to cause a sweaty brow. The cowboy hat, the kinky leather chaps and the cropped tee certainly helps you feel the rush. The bedazzled crotch makes it near impossible to look away. Was this your intention, Troye?

Another variation of this cowboy outfit was worn, with white leather chaps from Ludovic de Saint Sernin. The only thing missing from this look was a top! Part of me wonders if this was intentional.

This asymmetrical Acne Studios dress with printed studded belts round the waist, and text branding printed all over the piece was another highlight. A complete rejection of the ‘quiet luxury’ trend we have seen lately, because after all, being loud and unapologetic is one of the core elements of the brat mindset. Charli wore this dress in pink and in blue, creating a charming Sleeping Beauty (is it pink, is it blue?) moment.

Charli has a fondness for Acne Studios, wearing a pair of their loose fitting, distressed jeans to her ‘brat and it’s completely different but also still brat’ listening party at the Storm King Art Centre in New Windsor, New York. And in November 2024, Charli was revealed to be the new face of an Acne Studios campaign, posing topless while grasping their SS25 Bowlina bags.

Here, Charli is wearing this long sleeved, Jean Paul Gaultier top with printed lace and nipple details. Risque! This look was paired with yet another veil. The veils, while random, most likely elude to the fact that Charli is engaged, and will soon be marrying The 1975’s George Daniel. On her feet, she wears Fidan Novruzova square toed boots. Boots, especially squared toed, were a firm favourite of both Charli and Troye on this tour. Probably not the most comfortable shoes to perform in though, especially when jumping up and down on the stage to ‘Vroom Vroom’.

Again with the asymmetry (can you spot a theme?!)  this Balenciaga fall 2024 piece makes me think of the ‘Guess’ music video, where Charli and Billie Eilish cause havoc on a digger while a shower of underwear falls in the background, and creates a huge pile of bras and panties.

These are just a select few of the outfits Charli and Troye pleased viewers with. Unfortunately, the Sweat Tour will probably not be coming to Europe in the future. Although, Charli and Troye aren’t forgetting about us. Troye’s ‘Something to Give Each Other’ tour came to Europe in spring/summer 2024, just before he started the Sweat Tour. I was lucky enough to attend the Glasgow show, and it definitely didn’t disappoint – imagine sweaty dancing to ‘Got Me Started’ and jock straps on every man’s backside as far as the eye can see. Shortly after being on the Sweat Tour, Charli will hold a UK exclusive tour, the Brat Tour in winter 2024. I will also be attending this (shocker). I am already envisioning the biohazardous sea of neon green, red eyes with smudged mascara and powdered noses (though not with Maybelline Fit-Me, if you catch my hint).

The main thing that makes Charli and Troye’s outfits memorable? They weren’t afraid to have fun with fashion and take risks. After all, who thought wearing a veil with micro-shorts, or cowboy chaps with a jewel-encrusted crotch covering would create such a gag-worthy outfit? Well I guess, with those two examples I just used, the only reaction would be gag-worthy.
